A beautiful length of dark walnut, with an intriguing lower edge,  makes up this very unusual clock.

The lettering, raised maple, is based on the Elder Futhark runes,  the oldest version of the Runic alphabet, used by Germanic and Scandinavian peoples from the 2nd to the 10th centuries.

The pointer is a Triquetra, found on runestones in Northern Europe and on early Germanic coins. It represents life, death, and rebirth: a symbol of eternal life.

The numerals for significant hours (6 and 12, 3 and 9) are enlarged, so those unfamiliar with the runes can still understand the time.
