Bierce is a surprisingly dark length of Ambrosia maple, with excellent markings throughout. The simple walnut pointer doesn't distract from the remarkable figuring.
The Ambrosia beetle drills the tiny holes and tracks in a fungus which grows into the stripes you see. The beetle actually farms the fungus during its life cycle within the wood.
This "knockdown" version requires a tiny bit of assembly. Bierce is 40" wide, 10" high, and ready for a place on your wall.
