Decisions on your Linear Clock
Options for your custom clock
(Too many decisions? Call us. We'll design your clock in 5 minutes.)
-
Size: 3-foot or 5-foot?
- Our 3-foot clocks (really 40") fit perfectly over a standard single door or window. Let us know how much vertical space you have to work with please.
- Our 5-foot clocks (really 60") tend to be a centerpiece on a wall, or over a fireplace or a big-screen TV. They look good over double doors, too.
- We can make 7-foot clocks (80"). We can't ship them safely, but if you're within an hour of Brevard, we'll deliver - and even hang them for you!
-
Wood species: dark or light?
- For darker woods (most popular: they stand out well against a light wall) we will normally use Walnut. See our Gallery for samples of others. Be aware others may require another 2 weeks or so.
- For lighter woods, we will use Maple. Olivewood is also popular.
-
Style: rustic or modern?
- Almost everyone likes the rustic, live edge look, ie, with bark and/or natural curves on the lower edge. We'll give you that if the wood has enough bark.
- We can also sculpt the lower edge into a smooth curve like this, for a civilized natual edge.
- And of course we can cut both top and bottom edges straight for more of a modern, fine-furniture look if you ask us.
-
Pointer style:
- We normally use a simple shark-tooth style pointer, which doesn't distract from the beauty of the wood grain. But we do have a selection of other pointers. Let us know which one you'd like.
-
River clocks:
- We can pour a resin river into the face of your clock. See the two styles here. We normally don't do this, as it adds to the cost. But we'd love to - they are exceptionally beautiful (in our humble opinion).
