"Along the border of North and South Carolina between Sunset Beach and Myrtle Beach lies a serene stretch of coast called the Grand Strand. Famous for it's calm waters and amazing seafood and entertainment, there are stretches of beach in this area that still have the old, natural beach feel that made this area so attractive many years ago. When shooting the coast, I am always looking for interesting compositions. This path through the dunes caught my eye, and a couple mornings later when I had a beautiful colored sunrise, I headed to this spot and captured the scene. This is my most popular beach image. Simple, yet elegant, it evokes memories of childhood as a person first crests the dunes and sees the vast expanse of the ocean."
