"The rugged coast of North Carolina's Outer Banks has been both treacherous and beautiful for millenia. Countless ships have met their fate along the sandbars, and yet these sandbars make up the beautiful sand dunes and islands that protect North Carolina from constant hurricanes. Sporting a unique culture, these islands feature beautiful brick lighthouses from the 1800s, as well as dramatic fishing and surfing for vacationers and locals alike. On this cloudy morning, I woke up early to check the clouds and saw that small sliver of a gap at the horizon, giving the morning great potential for dramatic light and color. After walking the dunes for an hour, this scene unfolded before my eyes and the camera's lens as the sky lit up the dune scape."
